Our private tours in Brazil are day trips with your own car and driver, from eleven cities: Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Foz do Iguaçu, Florianópolis, Salvador, Recife, Maceió, Natal, Fortaleza and Manaus. Each tour is for your group alone, from one person up to sixteen in two vehicles, with collection at your hotel and stops that can change on the day.

In Rio de Janeiro, the Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf tour adds the Selarón Steps and Copacabana, and day trips run to Petrópolis, Búzios and Paraty. From São Paulo you can go down to Santos or up to Campos do Jordão; from Belo Horizonte, to Ouro Preto and Mariana or to Inhotim. In Foz do Iguaçu you can see the Iguaçu Falls from both sides, Brazil and Argentina, in one day, and Florianópolis has tours round the island and out to Blumenau and Pomerode.

In the north-east, Salvador's tours cover the Pelourinho, Bonfim and the coast up to Praia do Forte. From Recife you reach Olinda and the reef pools of Porto de Galinhas; from Maceió, Maragogi and the Galés; from Natal, Pipa and the dunes of Genipabu; from Fortaleza, Canoa Quebrada and Cumbuco. In the Amazon, Manaus has the Teatro Amazonas and the Meeting of the Waters. Each city has a guide that compares its tours, such as day trips from Rio de Janeiro and Iguazu Falls private tours.

When to go to Brazil

Brazil is big enough for its seasons to run against each other. In Rio de Janeiro the rainy period runs from November to April, usually as late-afternoon storms, and June to August is the driest time. In São Paulo, summer is the rainy season, ending in March. Florianópolis has rain in every month, January the wettest, and fills from Christmas through to Carnival. Around Ouro Preto, December to March brings afternoon showers, while July is dry and cold at night, with school holidays and the winter festival.

The north-east coast is the other way round. In Recife and Maceió the rainiest months fall between April and July; in Salvador, May is the wettest month; in Fortaleza the main rains run from February to May; in Natal, from March to July, with September to November the driest. On the reef coast between Recife and Maceió, the drier months from September to February usually give the clearest water. In Manaus, March is wetter than February, and June starts a relatively dry period.

Carnival dates change every year, so check this year's dates. Rio fills from 28 December for New Year and again in Carnival week, so book the main sights in advance.

Good to know before you go

Visas for US, Canadian and Australian citizens

Since 10 April 2025, citizens of the United States, Canada and Australia need an e-visa to visit Brazil as tourists, for stays of up to 90 days. The rule has been under review, so check the current position before you travel.

Passports for the Argentine side of the falls

The day on the Argentine side crosses the Tancredo Neves bridge, with immigration on leaving and entering each country, and waits are longer at weekends and on holidays. Bring passports. The Argentine park sells tickets for a fixed day and time that cannot be changed, asks for your passport at the box office, and takes cards or Argentine pesos.

The tide decides the reef pools

At Porto de Galinhas the jangadas leave about an hour before low tide, the boats to the Galés at Maragogi run within two hours either side of it, and at Maracajaú boats may not go out at high tide. The lowest tides come in the weeks of new and full moon. We time the day by the tide table.

Christ the Redeemer: stairs at the top

Works on the four escalators at the top of Corcovado began in August 2026 and were expected to last about ten months, so check whether they have finished. While the escalators are switched off, visitors use the old stairs; trained staff operate stair-climbing chairs for those who need them. Questions about private tours in Brazil

How much does a private tour in Brazil cost?

The price is for the car and driver, not per seat, so it depends on how many of you travel. Tours start from €70 for a small group in a sedan; larger groups go in a van or two. Choose the number of people when you book.

Where do the tours start?

At your hotel or address in Rio de Janeiro, Recife, Salvador, São Paulo, Foz do Iguaçu, Florianópolis, Belo Horizonte, Fortaleza, Natal, Maceió and Manaus. You are collected at the door and taken back at the end.

Can we see both sides of Iguaçu Falls in one day?

Yes. The both-sides tour from Foz do Iguaçu spends the morning on the Argentine side and the afternoon on the Brazilian Falls Trail, in about ten and a half hours. Bring passports for the border.

Are entrance tickets and boat trips included?

No. The price covers the vehicle, the driver, fuel, tolls and parking. National park tickets, cable cars, boat and buggy rides and lunch are paid separately; each tour page lists what applies.

What is the best day trip from Rio de Janeiro?

It depends on what you want. Petrópolis is the imperial city in the mountains, about an hour and a half away; Búzios is beaches, about three hours by road; Paraty is a colonial town on the Costa Verde, the longest day of the three.

Can we cancel?

Yes. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the tour, with a full refund.
