A guide to private tours at the Iguaçu FallsWhich side, and how long.

What each side of the falls is like, what is included, and which to pick if you only have one day.

The falls are on the border, and each side shows them differently. From Brazil you see the panorama, from a trail along the canyon; in Argentina the walkways run over the top of the falls and down to their foot. We run a day for each side, one for both, and two more with the bird park and the Itaipu dam.

One day only: the falls and Parque das Aves, the Brazilian side with the bird park across the road. Two days: one side of the falls each day, with the bird park or Itaipu added.

How to choose

You want the panorama in half a day

The Brazilian side. Four hours, starting at 07:00 or 13:00: the park bus from the visitor centre, about a kilometre and a half of trail along the canyon with the falls in front of you, and the walkway out over the river facing the Devil's Throat. Bring a light raincoat; the spray soaks people.

You want to be close to the water

The Argentine side. Nine hours from 07:00, across the Tancredo Neves bridge: the Upper Circuit along the top of the falls, and the Lower Circuit down steps through the forest towards their foot. More walking than the Brazilian side. Everyone needs a passport, and some nationalities a visa for Argentina.

You have one day and want both sides

Both sides. Ten and a half hours, the longest day here: Argentina first, when its park opens at 08:00, then back across the border for the Brazilian trail in the afternoon, before entry closes at 16:00. It is long, and there is a lot of walking.

You want the birds as well

The falls and Parque das Aves. Eight hours: the bird park opposite the national park gate, with walk-through aviaries, then the Brazilian Falls Trail and lunch at Porto Canoas above the falls. There is almost no driving between the two, and it is the day children remember. The Macuco Safari boat can be added; it needs about three more hours.

You have seen the falls

Itaipu, Parque das Aves and the Three Borders. Nine hours: the Panoramic bus over the top of the Itaipu dam, the bird park, and the Marco das Três Fronteiras, where Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay face each other across two rivers. The Marco opens Tuesday to Sunday, from the afternoon.

Four things worth knowing before you book

Park tickets are paid at the gate

The price covers the private vehicle, the driver, fuel, tolls and parking. Tickets for both national parks, Parque das Aves and Itaipu, the Macuco Safari and other boat trips, and lunch are paid on the day.

High water can close the walkways

In 2026 very high water closed the Devil's Throat walkways on both sides for a time. We tell you before the day what is open.

Private costs less than you think for a group

A coach seat is cheap for one person and stops being cheap at four. Our prices are by group size, not per seat: up to four of you share one car at one price, and the price only steps up when you need a van. And you are not waiting for forty strangers at every stop.

You can change your mind

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pick-up, refunded in full. If the date stops working, message us and we will do our best to move you to another day.
