A guide to private tours in FlorianópolisThe island, and beyond.

What each part of the island is like, what is included, and which to pick if you only have one day.

Florianópolis is an island city. The old town faces the mainland across the Hercílio Luz Bridge, the north of the island is calm and the south is wilder. Beyond it, the coast runs south to Praia do Rosa, and inland lies the Vale Europeu, settled by German immigrants. Here is what each of our five tours involves.

One day on the island: the south, for the Lagoa, the dunes at Joaquina and the oysters of Ribeirão da Ilha. A day when the weather is not good for the beach: the city tour.

How to choose

You want the city

The city tour. Four hours, starting at 07:00 or 13:00: the Hercílio Luz Bridge, the old centre around Praça XV and the cathedral, the Mercado Público, and the viewpoint over the Lagoa da Conceição, then a coffee by the water. Many people stay at the Lagoa for lunch and take a taxi back.

You want calm beaches and a sunset

The north of the island. Six hours, starting at 07:00 or 13:00: Santo Antônio de Lisboa, an Azorean village on the bay, the eighteenth-century fort above Praia do Forte, and the long beaches of Jurerê and Ingleses. On the 13:00 start we can finish in Santo Antônio for the sunset.

You want the wilder half

The south of the island. Eight hours from 07:00: the Lagoa da Conceição, the dunes and surf at Joaquina, lunch on the sand at Pântano do Sul, and the oyster farms of Ribeirão da Ilha.

You want the beaches down the coast

Guarda do Embaú, Garopaba and Praia do Rosa. Ten hours: a boat across the river to the beach at Guarda do Embaú, the fishing bay at Garopaba, then lunch and the afternoon at Praia do Rosa. Southern right whales come to this coast between July and November.

You want a different Brazil

Blumenau and Pomerode. Eleven hours, the longest day here, with a little over two hours' drive each way: the Vila Germânica in Blumenau, where the Oktoberfest is held each October, and the half-timbered houses and barns of the Rota do Enxaimel in Pomerode.

Three things worth knowing before you book

Bring something to swim in

The north, the south and the southern coast all run along beaches, and we can stay longer at any of them. The price covers the private vehicle, the driver, fuel, tolls and parking; food and drink, sandboard hire at Joaquina and the boat at Guarda do Embaú are paid on the day.

Private costs less than you think for a group

A coach seat is cheap for one person and stops being cheap at four. Our prices are by group size, not per seat: up to four of you share one car at one price, and the price only steps up when you need a van. And you are not waiting for forty strangers at every stop.

You can change your mind

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pick-up, refunded in full. If the date stops working, message us and we will do our best to move you to another day.
