North across the border for the day: forty thousand basalt columns on the Antrim coast, the ship that was built here, and the city that built it.

The day

A guide, not a timetable. Tell your driver what matters most and the day moves around it.

07:00

Dublin, your hotel door

An early start, because the Causeway is three hours north and worth having to yourself for a while.

10:00

The Giant's Causeway

Forty thousand interlocking basalt columns where a volcano cooled sixty million years ago. The legend says a giant built it. The stones are free to walk; your ticket to the visitor centre is included.
Entrance included

12:30

The Antrim coast road

One of the great drives in Europe, with Dunluce Castle on its cliff and the glens opening up on the inland side.

14:30

Titanic Belfast

Built on the slipway where the ship itself was built. Nine galleries, from the shipyard to the wreck on the seabed. Your ticket is included.
Ticket included

16:30

Belfast city

Two hours through a city that has changed more than almost any in Europe. The murals, the Cathedral Quarter, and the pubs that have been there through all of it.

20:00

Back at your hotel

Roughly. It's a long day and the border traffic decides the last stretch.

There's no checkpoint between Ireland and Northern Ireland. Carry photo ID as a matter of course, but nobody will stop the car. If you are not a British or Irish citizen or a legal resident of Ireland, you will usually need a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for Northern Ireland: apply on gov.uk before the trip.

Message us and we'll move it if we can — we work with several drivers, so there is usually room. More than 24 hours ahead costs nothing.
