A guide to private tours from ParisThe four worth taking.

How long each one needs, what is included, and which to pick if you only have one day.

Paris rewards walking, but the distances between its sights are longer than the map suggests, and the palaces, gardens and beaches people come to France for are hours outside it. Here is what each of our four Paris tours involves.

If you have one day and have never been: the Paris tour by car. If you have one day to spend outside the city: Versailles and Giverny.

How to choose

You want the city in half a day

The Paris tour by car. Four hours, starting at 07:00 or 13:00: the Eiffel Tower from the Trocadéro, the Champs-Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre and the Tuileries, Notre-Dame, which reopened in December 2024 and is free to enter, and Montmartre. It can start at Gare du Nord or at the airport, with your luggage in the car.

You want a palace and a garden

Versailles and Giverny. Ten hours: the Hall of Mirrors and the royal apartments in the morning, Le Nôtre's gardens down to the Grand Canal, then Monet's house and water garden in the afternoon. The water lilies are out from late spring to early autumn.

You want the châteaux

The Loire Valley. Twelve hours: Chambord and its double-helix staircase, lunch in Amboise, where Leonardo da Vinci is buried, and Chenonceau, built on arches across the river. With two châteaux instead of three there is time for a wine cellar in Vouvray.

The day that stays with people

The Normandy D-Day beaches. Thirteen hours, the longest day here: the Mulberry harbour at Arromanches, Omaha Beach, the Normandy American Cemetery and Pointe du Hoc. Juno Beach or Pegasus Bridge can replace a stop.

Four things worth knowing before you book

Book timed tickets early

Entrances are not included on any of these. The palace of Versailles and Monet's house both sell timed tickets online, and the châteaux of the Loire all charge for entry. The beaches and the American Cemetery in Normandy are free.

The long days are long

Normandy is thirteen hours and the Loire twelve, and much of that is in the car. If you would rather not, the Loire can be split over two days with a night in the valley.

Private costs less than you think for a group

A coach seat is cheap for one person and stops being cheap at four. Our prices are by group size, not per seat: up to four of you share one car at one price, and the price only steps up when you need a van. And you are not waiting for forty strangers at every stop.

You can change your mind

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pick-up, refunded in full. If the date stops working, message us and we will do our best to move you to another day.
