A guide to private tours from Buenos AiresThe city, the delta, and the pampas.

How long each one takes, what is not included, and which to pick if you only have one day.

Buenos Aires has two halves worth seeing: the old south, where the city began, and the green, grand north. Beyond it are the delta at Tigre and the gaucho town of San Antonio de Areco, out across the pampas. Here is what each of our five involves, and which to pick if you only have one day.

One day: Buenos Aires in a day, the south in the morning and the north in the afternoon. A second day: Tigre and the delta for half of it, or San Antonio de Areco for all of it.

How to choose

You have one day, and want the whole city

Buenos Aires in a day. Eight hours from 07:00: Plaza de Mayo while it is quiet, San Telmo, the painted houses of Caminito in La Boca, lunch in Puerto Madero, then Recoleta Cemetery, the steel flower of Floralis Genérica and the parks of Palermo. South in the morning, north in the afternoon, so the traffic works for you.

You want the old south in half a day

Plaza de Mayo, San Telmo and La Boca. Four hours, at 07:00 or 13:00: the Casa Rosada and the cathedral where General San Martín is buried, the cobbled streets of San Telmo, Caminito, and the brick warehouses of Puerto Madero. On Sundays the antiques fair fills Defensa street in San Telmo.

You want the elegant north

Recoleta and Palermo. Four hours, at 07:00 or 13:00: Recoleta Cemetery and the Duarte family vault where Eva Perón lies, Floralis Genérica, the woods and rose garden of Palermo, and El Ateneo Grand Splendid, a bookshop inside a theatre that opened in 1919. Allow about an hour in the cemetery.

You want water and green

Tigre and San Isidro. Five hours, at 07:00 or 13:00: the neo-Gothic cathedral of San Isidro, the riverside walk past the rowing clubs in Tigre, and the Puerto de Frutos market. A one-hour boat into the channels of the delta fits, and your driver waits.

You want gaucho country

San Antonio de Areco. Nine hours, with an hour and a half to two hours each way across the pampas: the main square, the silversmiths' and leather workshops, the gaucho museum by the river, lunch in a parrilla or an old almacén, and the old bridge. In November the town holds its gaucho festival and gets busy.

Four things worth knowing before you book

Entrances are paid on the day

The price covers the private vehicle, the driver, fuel, tolls and parking. Entrance to Recoleta Cemetery and the museums, boat trips at Tigre, estancia activities and lunch are paid on the day.

Horses mean an estancia

Riding is not part of the Areco day, but the estancias sell ranch days with lunch and horses. Book with them, tell us the time, and we drop you there and collect you.

Private costs less than you think for a group

A coach seat is cheap for one person and stops being cheap at four. Our prices are by group size, not per seat: up to four of you share one car at one price, and the price only steps up when you need a van. And you are not waiting for forty strangers at every stop.

You can change your mind

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pick-up, refunded in full. If the date stops working, message us and we will do our best to move you to another day.
